2011 Annual Leadership Retreat
African American community comes together annually to build collaborative relationships to build a support system for leaders, promote community change, and keep the critical issues in the Black communities of Northeast Ohio in the forefront of the conversations. Each year (usually a Saturday in early August), the retreat supports Black leaders in becoming a resource to each other as they travel in the diverse and dynamic sectors throughout the business and civic arenas in which they serve.
The 2007 retreat focused on the critical issues of trust building, cultural competence, and reconnecting to the critical issues that are impacting the Black community in the new age of regionalism.
The 2008 retreat focused on embracing our cultural strengths through mentoring, sharing knowledge and resources, and overcoming barriers of trust.
The 2010 retreat focused on nonprofit collaborations; for profit business teaming and strategic alliances; and public / private partnerships.
The 2011 retreat focused on inspiring a shared vision and included segments on: creating your future; identifying your loop; finding a common purpose; and motivating your stakeholders.
We are always seeking unique retreat locations that take us away from the norm. Past retreats have taken place at Squire Vallevue Farm, Laurel School Fairmount Campus, and the Manor Party Center. If you know a unique location and would like to host a retreat, please contact the CAAO office at 216-432-9481.
