Weekend and Holiday work are required. Qualifications Minimum Responsibilities: · Assist with the maintenance and culturing or various organisms required for Whole Effluent Toxicity testing. · Collecting samples, and monitoring water quality at local beaches and other District locations. · Perform various chemical and biological analyses. Specific Responsibilities: · Biology / Microbiology: o Whole Effluent Toxicity Testing (Ceriodaphnia dubia / Pimephales promelas) Culture algae and prepare food sources Prepare laboratory water and reagents Maintain organism cultures and population management Identify and culture various bacteria · Chemistry o Assist with chemical analysis of various environmental samples Sample distillations, digestions and extractions Gravimetric and spectrophotometric analyses o Collect samples and monitor water quality at local beaches. o Compile data and write reports Minimum Requirements: · Candidate should be a sophomore or junior at a local college/university with a strong Biology or Chemistry background · Full training will be provided · 40 hours per week. Starting time is 8:00 a.m. Monday – Friday, with some weekend work.
